The central and crowning figure of the fountain is the "Genius of Water," a nine foot tall woman in flowing robes who stands at the peak of the shaft and showers water from her outstretched hands. The pedestal upon which she stands bears four inscriptions, one on each side: "Henry Probasco", Tyler Davidson", "to the People of Cincinnati", and "MDCCCLXXI", the year the fountain was erected. This statue, the largest of all the figures on the fountain, weighs two tons. |
